20 Million Dollar Podcast- Insights From a Motivational Speaker

From the Prof G Pod, 7 July 2025:

“12 podcasts a week.
14 full-time people.
The whole portfolio will probably do about 17 or 20 million dollars this year.”

“Just 10 podcasts are responsible for a third of all listenership. I bet the top 100 capture two-thirds.
That means 599,900 podcasts are fighting over one-third of the listener base.”

“I think it's probably easier to become an NBA player than it is to have a successful podcast at this point.”

“We get $30 to $50 CPMs. We hire at 30–50% above market.
I make about $4 million a year speaking.
$125K–$150K per keynote.
Books make $1M–$2M each.
Newsletter earns $8K–$10K per send.”

And the flywheel?

“Downloads drive book sales.
Books drive speaking gigs.
Gigs drive newsletter growth.
And round it goes…”
