Notebooks - Insights From a Motivational Speaker
Another stupid little thing that changed my life…
I stopped writing in notebooks
I loved the feel of jotting notes at a conference
the flow of the pen
the smell of the paper
the arrows and squiggles and boxes
ideas captured
or so I thought
One day I looked at my pile of notebooks
and realised it was an ideas graveyard
a place where my ideas went to die
and I could visit them sentimentally during the first week of January.
So, I spent months digitising them …aaaarghhhh
typing them out …aaaarghhhh
Then I put them in the bin
Now I make notes on iNotes (or your favourite app)
you’ll see me laptop on knees at a conference
tapping on my phone wile walking ;listening to podcasts
then on the bus/train/airport I copy and paste directly into my categorised folders in the cloud.
My ideas are now
where I can find them
when I’m thinking about them
and with me wherever I am
Guess what?
My ideas are reborn.
My content calendar is full.
My usefulness to others improves.
This simple thing has changed my life.

If we haven’t met yet…
I never considered myself good at change until I went from
-average shot to army sniper
-home movies to National Geographic cameraman
-fumbling card tricks to a professional magician
-never swinging a hammer to building a home
-high school dropout to published author
-business illiterate to building & selling a business
-stutterer to motivational speaker
Turns out I know how to change, I know how to make it simple, and I know how to stand on stage & make it fun so others want to do it too.
