The 3 Lies We Live By - Insights From a Motivational Speaker

#change motivational speaker school

Before you can thrive through change, you need to see what’s holding you back.

Before we talk about how to thrive through change, we need to talk about what’s holding us back.

I call them The 3 Lies We Live By—and most of us are under their spell without even realising it.

1. We’ve outsourced responsibility—and it’s sedating us.
We’re told to buy something when we hurt, blame someone when we’re wronged, and burn it down when we’re frustrated.
That’s relief, not results. Outside fixes don’t solve inside problems.
Agency starts where excuses end.

2. We’re educating for a world that no longer exists.
Schools still reward memorising, prize conformity, and measure worth by tests.
But today demands adaptability, curiosity, and reinvention.
A degree isn’t destiny. The real passport is your ability to learn, unlearn, and relearn.

3. Our fixation with feelings is stopping us from starting.
We’ve been sold the idea we must feel motivated to begin, feel safe to grow, and feel fun while we do it.
Reality is the opposite. Achievers rarely feel ready—they just start.
It’s risk, not safety, that fuels growth. Fun comes later, after the sweat.
Stop waiting for the mood. Take the step. Feelings follow footsteps.

The good news? Once you see the lies for what they are, you can stop living by them.
That’s when change stops feeling like a threat—and starts looking like a doorway.
