The Right To Be Wiser - Insights From a Motivational Speaker

I reserve the right to be wiser today than I was yesterday.

There’s a problem. Young people are pulling back from leadership.

One reason? The pile-on.

It sucks to be torn to shreds in public—for one bad tweet, one clumsy sentence, one imperfect moment.

We’re complex creatures.
We’re all flawed.
We’ve all said things we wish we hadn’t.

Expecting perfection is unfair—and unrealistic.

So what can we do?

We can give people a break, that’s what.

In your office.
In your feed.

Stop with the faux outrage.
That I just can’t remain silent about this tone? Unless you’ve got skin in the game—yes, you can.

Stop with the outrage archaeology.
Digging up something someone said 20 years ago like you’re Indiana Jones with a grudge? Let it go.

We’re shaping the space that new leaders will step into.
It should feel challenging—but not terrifying.

So here’s my line in the sand:

I’m holding myself to a higher standard.
I won’t lazily criticise someone until I’ve dug deeper.

Who are they?
What’s their body of work?
Which direction are they heading?

If I sense they’re trying to do a half-decent job…

Then I’m shutting the fark up.

I’d love for you to join me.
