This Smartphone Editing App is Dangerous. Delete It.

app dangerous delete video editing

Not all smartphone editing apps are created equal. VivaVideo is a very popular base level edit app for iOS and Android. Currently, it has well over 100 million users.

VivaVideo asks for a range of dangerous permissions

including the ability to read and write files to external drives, plus it wants your specific GPS location… hmmm… I’ve never needed that in any video editing I’ve ever done.

The Indian military has mentioned it as suspected spyware. Microsoft has identified other apps made by the same developer as malware containing Trojans (the kind that steals your bank or PayPal funds)

There is nothing so special that this app does that a dozen other apps couldn’t do got you, for free, so my recommendation is you delete this app.
