How Motivational Speakers Handle Objections

keynote speaker motivational speaker

You have been invited to the stage because you have something to say, not to facilitate a discussion.

Do not let an audience member take control by getting into a discussion.

Here's how I handle objections:

'That's an interesting point'
followed by
'you know what, I honestly don't know but I want to find out. Please meet me immediately after I finish and we'll get into it then. Thankyou.'

or

'I have a lot to say on that but now is not the time. I'd love to meet later and discuss it.'

Remember, it's YOUR talk.

Do not reframe the objections.
Instead
Resist the objector.

Motivational talks are not the time or the place for discussions.

Challenge and reframing the objections is poor advice for anyone thinking of motivational speaking.
