Leaders Are Not Readers ๐Ÿ“š

Your honour… ๐Ÿ”Žmy case against video teleprompters.

Exhibit A … STAR TREK ๐Ÿง‘‍๐Ÿš€

I like Mr Spock’s ears, only up to a point though.

Teleprompters are useful, only up to a point though.

โœ… Use them to meet a deadline but after that, stay away from them.

โŽ They will become a crutch you are stuck with.

โŽ A crutch that will hold you back from being a great presenter.

Remember that even pros take years to master the technique. You will always look like the person reading words.

And a crutch that will stop you from being a great leader in your niche.

Like the leader who stands in front of people and fields questions in the moment

it’s imperative that you are able to get in front of a lens and say what you think and feel in the moment.

โœ… It will be imperfect. Wonderfully imperfect.

Perfection doesn’t work like it used to.

After decades of governments, corporations, organisations giving us perfect videos with hollow promises we are all tired of feeling manipulated.

Perfectly delivered videos have a bit of a bad smell attached to them now. Not always, but often enough.

So my recommendation for you is that if you don’t want to look and sound like a politician

then go easy on the teleprompters.

What’s your experience with teleprompters been?
