The Problem With Ring Lights For Making Videos

What are those floating doughnuts?? The problem with ring lights is that they are misunderstood. There is a mystique surrounding them that they are somehow a magical solution. Nope. They are just a light but with a peculiar problem.

If you wear glasses, the reflections are so different to what viewers are used to - that is just a splodge of light - and that attracts our attention.

Remember, that DISTRACTIONS DILUTE YOUR MESSAGE and this is a problem if you are making videos where you want people to hear what you are saying and take action.

So if you are a charity, not for profit, a volunteer-based group, a teacher ... or a local councillor ... beware ring lights if you wear glasses.
